Intoxication with technology and design obsession are words describing the passion that designers have infused into the latest and greatest technology. Within this site, we try to quantify and justify the decisions for our reviews and explain what makes certain technologies tick, and what doesn’t. In this post, we describe our intentions for how we make our review.
Of course, we believe that the heart of technology and its ability to inspire… capitalism, of sorts, is specific to form first and foremost. Form however, is a specific science that not only deals with the obvious aspect of aesthetics, but takes into account the analysis of build quality, user interface, consumer appeal, trends, and more. We have dubbed the miscellaneous category, X-Factor. This factor, which many of the industry’s most breakthrough products have, manifests itself in different forms for each product. In a sense, it’s the category for everything that’s specific only for the device itself.
Finally, before we delve into the specifics, let us mention that words are, in many cases, not enough to describe certain aspects of a device. As such, we will typically describe these aspects with wrong spellings of words (e.g. hawt for hot, seeexy for sexy, dood for dude), in an attempt to accentuate the adjective.

Some say their latest-and-greatest flagulations have cemented a spot in their peer’s memory.
All we know is, the upcoming Aston Martin flagship, is going to be ridiculously sexy.

Form versus function has been a hotly debated subject in every modern product and device. Unfortunately, the engineers who are responsible with the creation and existence of said products typically and half-justifiably plant themselves alongside the “function first” position. In fact, as I state this, many of you are clenching fists, re-reading phrases and words to catch misplaced arguments, and willing to jump at any opportunity to virtually strangle me. I, of course, stand by my position: form OVER function. To try and control your mind and steer it towards my biased viewpoint, I will try and be as objective and concise as I can with specific examples in the industry.
I’ve listed five arguments (in order of what I think helps explain my viewpoint) of why the actual design of a product should precede function. Granted, this assumes that the specific functional objectives and goals of the product have been set in place, which is typically one of the first steps towards the formation of a product. A need in society must be fulfilled by the function of the device. Let us continue.
